Pregnant Swordtail

I bought a female sword from a lfs about a week and a half ago. She has a big black gravid spot but she's not getting any fatter. Is she pregnant? How long does it take them to give birth usually?

in my experience with many swordtails they give birth after about 28-40 days. Your swordtail might not be getting any fatter if she is about to drop.

Mine usually don't get fatter, but if you start to see little eyeballs of the babies in the mother's stomach then they will have babies within that day or the next.
