Hi all
My female swordtail is pregnant. Its 4 weeks tomorrow since her last drop and she seemed to have 'squared off' last night. I thought when I checked them this morning that she would have been thin and had the fry but she is still big and fat.
I'm wanting to save as much fry as possible this time, so im hoping for her to have the fry in a breeder.
The thing is i don't want to move her too soon to stress her out.
At the minute my male sword seems to be harrasing her a lot.
When do you think i should move her?

Hi, what breeder trap do you have? i brought one for my swords and its tiny, my girls wouldn't even fit in it

if he is harassing her too much i'd seperate and turn the light off when you do :good:

i have a few different ones.
the one im planning on using is big enough for her. (checked before planning to put her in there)

Hopefully she wont have dropped them before i return home from work tonight haha.

should be fine then, pop her in and turn the lights out to avoid stress, if she hasn't dropped my late tomorrow let her out again for a day or two.

keep us updated :good:

Well I put her in on Friday night before going to bed so that the room was dark and less stressful.
Next morning, no fry.
I let her out on the Saturday as I was doing my water change. Put her back in on Saturday night and have left her in there.
If there are no fry tonight when I get home ill have to let her out again.
She is no bother in the breeder and doesn't seem to be stressed.
I know once I let her out she will have them no doubt. haha

as i expected, came down stairs this morning to baby swordtails. Typical :S
