I've got a pregnant swordtail and she is continually pooing, is this normal, does it mean sje's ready to drop???

Yes, my tank is a rena, size, 120l x 40w x 70h. I've been having some problems with amonia. About an hour ago i did a 50% water change. I also did a 50% water change a few days ago. There is 1 male swordtail in the tank aswell and he is continually following her in the tank and rubbing the anal area. I don't have a tank that is ready to put her in (i've a 2ft tank in the process of cycling), any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm fairly new to the hobby but would like to see her have fry.

Do you have only one male to one female?

If so that could be a very good reason for her to feel stressed - she's probably not getting a second's peace from his attentions...

My readings are:

PH: 7.1
Amonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 20
Temp: 25.5c
GH and KH ??? (no test kit)

As i said earlier i've just done a 50% water change, so the readings may be different within a couple of hours.

She's been continually pooing for about 2 days.

Ye normally those readings would be ok, you have just changed half of the water so thats normal. Does she have plenty of hiding spaces? Might be worth getting some plants or something. Test the water this time tiommorow see if they are any different.

i don't think its a stress issue sometimes my guppies do the same a few days before birth just make sure there is plenty of places for her to hide. what colour is the poo?

It's brown but very stringy. big gaps inbetwwen the poo. I can't seperate the 2 as i have nowhere to put her. I'll just have to moniter her and see how she gets on.
