I have a pregnant sword tail.. I think im gonna put the fish in a 20 gallon with a breeder trap and try and raise the fry in the 20 gallon tank.. I have never dealt with these fish before.. She is getting pretty big and you can see the babies through her stomach.. If anyone can tell me what to do to raise the babies.. Food filtration etc, and when should i put her in the other tank.. How will i know when its the right time.. Any info would be great.

Have you tried reading the pinned topics and the FAQ topics? I think you'll find they answer most of your questions. :)

Raising the fry in a 20g is a great idea, it will allow them lots of room to grow. Are you planning on putting the mother in the breeder trap though? That's usually not the best idea because it can stress them out, especially larger fish like Swordtails. You may just want to let her give birth in the tank and provide shelter for the fry.

Ok.. I guess i would check on her every night and day.. Remove her when she has the babies.. I have heard that they will hunt down her young.. I have plans and small coconut huts and a few porcelain logs to throw in the tank.. That should be good? I will now check the pinned topics. Thanks
