So Iā€™m currently learning new things about maintaining the proper aquarium. I have a pregnant platy or I think she is done having fry. She had 8 that I was able to remove to a different tank. But the past couple days Iā€™ve been noticing a bump on her upper side? Iā€™m not sure what it can be? Itā€™s hard to get a good pic but that little white thing it looks like itā€™s popping out?

From my understanding Platy's normally give birth to their offspring in one go, or over the course of a few days, however there are accounts of platy's holding back birthing the rest of their young by stretches of up to 2-3 weeks. My advice would be too keep regularly checking the tank to see if she's given birth to anymore fry. Unfortunately my experience is upon research only, so if someone who has first hand experience contradicts what I say take their advice over mine.

What I can say is that platy's aren't really known for their motherly love, in fact, it is known that they will even eat their young, so make sure you put the offspring into a fry tank as this is a recommended practice.

Congratulations on breeding :)

Does the lump look like a tumor or something? The pictures dont show it
