hi!

i just had a question.. i didn't know my platy was pregnant cause she looks like she normally does.. but then i'm new. anyways i came home one day and i saw that there was a platy fry, which i thought was a giant piece of poop until it started swimming around. i was wondering if she will have more? or is that it? i have a male guppy and two african dwarf frogs.. maybe they ate all the other little ones?

thanks

personaly i would catch it and put it in a nursing net and feed it with special fry food, dont be surprised if you see anymore as fry are really good at hiding, she could easily drop some more soon as i've just read that platties store sperm (maybe i'm wrong) as i'm new to platiies myself but i'm looking forward to my female dropping. she looks like shes gunna pop. when i was i kid i had a tank with some platties in it but to my surprise i had fry quickly but they never showed a visible gravid spot that i can remember. apparently the majorty of female brought tend to be pregant already and some dont show the gravid.......someone else will be along to advise you i suspect as well. good luck with your fry

Platies store sperm and can give birth up to six months after mating. Assuming you got her while there was a male still in the tank and it has been less than six months, yes you will have more births. All the inhabitants of the tank may have eaten some of the fry. FYI, gestation period is about four weeks.
