Hi all! Really hope you can help! Bit anxious actually as want to do the best for my little platy.
So. Our platy is pregnant (well several of them are but that's not the point). This one is the one who at least 2 of our male guppies have always focused on and whilst she seems to get on well enough with one of the guppies she always swims away from the second. Now she's really pregnant, she seems like she's having a harder time getting away, and so not wanting her to get massively stressed, I've gone and bought a breeding trap and put her in it.
I'm now worrying about whether the breeding trap is more stressful than the being chased and would really like some advice! She's pushing against the walls of the trap quite a lot and going up and down. I've added a bit of plant but this doesn't seem to be doing anything by way of making the trap her new favourite place to be.
The two guppies have been going mad outside the trap, the one she likes wanders up to see her but when they're both up there they shove each other all over the place which makes me assume they'll keep chasing her if I empty her back out the trap.
My primary concern in this is not the fry, it's our platy. We'll try and get some fry out when they turn up so they aren't all eaten, but I mostly want her to survive. Any any advice on what's the best to do is welcome. I would move her into our spare tiny tank but that currently has 4 babies in from the last platy's batch and I don't think they're quite big enough to avoid her eating them, so it's not an option.
Please help!
