my female platy cheesey is hiding and likes to hide but shes not looking big i really would like to know if shes pregnant no gravid spot or plumpness but shes just hiding soz no pics until further notice

I dont know sometimes you really struggle to see the gravid spot on some platys I have a sunset mickey mouse platy and I've never been able to see her gravid spot but she has had fry. has she got any bigger at all that you can tell? thats about the only way I've been able to tell sometimes.

ye not all platys have gravid spots.

But it's just luck ;)

The only sure fire way I've found to tell if a fish is pregnant is that she looks like she is about to explode. Gravid spots really aren't always apparent. Hiding may actually be a sign there is something wrong with a fish if it's not the fish's normal behavior.

I have a tank full of platys. One my platys always hides near the heater when shes about to give birth(usually for a week). And after having her babys shes out and about. So to me, Its normal.

well ive been studying her behavior and shes hanging round the heater she is a red coral platy and she was by the light today and i could see through her faitly and i could see a patch of plumpness above her anul fin and i was wondering if that could be anything shes has also become slightly agressive towards another male wich is i belive the father
ps im adding a pic cheesey_pic.JPG

well their pregnamt for 28 days or so, so looing at the pic i'll say 10-14 days

When my Orange Platies became pregnant, their bellies expanded, and it seemed like the color was stretched thin too, leaving the belly more pinkish and not as bright orange. That's something you might want to look out for too.
