This particular molly had babies 4 weeks ago today. I found a total of 6. I think a few got eaten before I noticed there were babies. I have 2 left because 2 died for unknown reasons and the other 2 got eaten by my betta because I let them out in a smaller tank before they were big enough. They are still in a breeding net in my 10 gallon.

I noticed my dalmation molly and black molly gettin busy a few days after I noticed the babies. Not sure if she is pregnant or not. I got one of those plastic 3 way breeders and was hoping to isolate her if she is pregnant and then move the babies into the breeding net with the 4 week old babies (unless that is a bad idea).

I have a 40 gallon tank with a total of 11 fish. 7 mollies, 2 of which are mails, 2 scissor tail rasbora, and 2 platys. The tank has had fish in it for not quite 2 weeks yet. I added some tank water and filter stuff from my 10 gallon tank to help speed up the cycle. I thought it had cycled and then I added the scissor and platys. My mom had 3 fish which were being agressive so I took them on for her and added them to. So a total of 7 fish were added all within 24 hours of each other.

pH, nitrite and nitrate levels are fine, no trace of either. I have been keeping tabs on my ammonia levels a few times a day because I don't want them to get out of control. The ammonia level has been hovering around 0.25ppm. Sometimes a little more sometimes a little less. No more than 0.50 ppm.

I have been doing tank changes, the gills on the platys are a little red but not the rest of the fish so not sure if it is irritated or if that is just how they are.

Just wanted anyones input. I know this is a lot of info. Check out my pics of my dalmatin molly, shes the one I think is pregnant. Let me know what you guys thing. I am not a beginner but I wouldnt just yet call myself an intermediate fish guru.

Hope the images work.

Can't really see the photos clearly but she dosn't quite look ready to drop yet. The average gestation period is four weeks but it can take a little longer for some fish.

Yea, I wasn't too sure. I know they were doin the deed right after she gave birth. And one of my males is getting busy with one other female yesterday. So I know I will have babies. I just don't know what to look for. I wasn't expecting the first batch of babies.
