I bought 2 female mollies about 6 weeks ago, one turned out to be pregnant, but the two of them have been constant companions since day one. However, today I noticed the non-preggers one really chomping on Preggy and her struggling to get away, getting chased and bitten again and generally the two of them fighting like hell.

I've hoiked the non-preg one out and put her in quarantine, but I'm worried if this is a trend and that the other fish will start on the Mum-to-be. Can anyone tell me if this is normal, or what could have brought it on?

I didn't move the pregnant fish cos last week I thought she was going to pop and her in a breeding net, and she got really lonely and tried to eat her way out of it, then was really happy when I put her back in general population. Any advice from anyone??

Worried granny to be

Well, quarantining the aggressor is better than quarantining the victim. This way the non-preg doesn't feel she won.

However, if this is a trend, then get a small breeding tank. This could serve as a refuge and a safe place for fry to grow.
