Pregnant Guppy

Yesterday i put my guppy in a separate v-shaped breeding tank, she seemed happy enough, not stressed or anything. I did this because i purchased her about 4 weeks or so ago and she has been kept in a community tank contained males. Her belly had gone bigger and her gravid spot was almost black and again had enlarged over the last week or so. This morning i got up and there where no babies, and her size has reduced and her gravid spot is almost unnoticable..... where did the babies go? surely she didnt eat them all, and the v-shaped trap should have saved a few at least.

Is she wearing a smug smile and licking her chops? I reckon she did eat them. She may not have had that many, they don't always.

I know this sounds strange, but i released her back into the main tank, and the dark gravid spot appeared again as large as it was before.

I've had this happen to one of my guppies. She was HUGE, and looked ready to give birth. I placed her in a breeder net (which she didn't like at all, but dealt with) and the next morning, her gravid spot was smaller, as was her belly. I released her back into the main tank, and she got bigger again.
