OMG!OMG! just discoverd my female guppy i got from the shop on saturday is pregnant!!!!!ive checked all the sites....her anal fin or area has a dark spot etc....and the shop i got it from always has guppy fry...they got 1 huge tank full of them!!!! so its obvious! but im scared....how do i feed micro worms? where can i get them?how many times a day do i feed them? when will they be born (mystery) and i need a relativley good size tank...anyone in the northampton area who has one...plese help...willing to pay...

Don't panic!
You should read the pinned articles at the top of the section which are excellent .
If you havent got a spare tank at the minute Id suggest you get a breeding net which will be ok for the fry for the first couple of weeks. The guppy gives birth after about 30 days so its anyones guess when exactly she will pop.
If you decide to let her give birth in the tank then you should have some plants etc in it to give them a better chance of survival.
Finely crushed flakes will do the fry to begin with and they should be fed 4-6 times daily if you can manage it.They should be fed little but often
Good luck :)

the female is in the breeding net since this morning....but if the fry are in the net...how can i put plants in it? they need the room...the tank has alot of plants....but theyd be in the net?

oh and i cant release the guppy....she swims in the net....but sinks to the bottom when shes released....i saw her get nudged by my plec....i got worried....she seems happy in the net....

Kevin

Keep her in the net if shes happy enough there and showing no signs of stress
I meant that if you were letting her give birth in the tank that it was best to have some plants in the tank so the fry could hide.

Ok cool, but can you tell me this to? when the guppys are big enough to be removed from the net, my mum said shed by me a new tank to put them in, would i transfer them as a normal fish? bag them, equalise temperature and release?

Kevin

ok, got pics...but blury coz of the net.....but you can see at the back of the bump that it is dark which is a indication that shes pregnant.....

Wow, she's got a big tail.

Acclimatise them like you would any other fish, float add water, wait....add more water, wait...just keep doing that. I usually take about 45 minutes to acclimate my fry, because I like to be safe. However, if your params are exactly the same, you don't need to take quite that long. Don't assume they are without testing though, as the pH and such in each tank can vary by the substrate, decorations, etc. :)
