Hi!

A week ago I found 1 sole baby guppy in my aquarium. The female is still huge and squared, with dark gravid spot. I have been waiting for it to drop more, but nothing yet. And she seems really restless.

Does that mean there is something wrong?

The male was bothering her a lot, so I separated him. I cant keep him away for much longer, he is really stressed to be kept in a small tank...

I have lots of plants and rocks for the fry to hide. I dont control the water temperature, but the weather has been over 30 degrees for the past week...

Thanks a lot

Hi there and welcome :)

If its the same female that dropped a week ago,she probably won't drop any more for another few weeks.they normally drop them all within a day.

How many females do you have? has the norm is to have at least 2/3 females to 1 male, otherwise the female will get stressed too much being constantly hounded by the male.

It happened :D

She dropped 8 (that I found) during the night and 3 more in the afternoon. They are sooo cool...

I think it was really the male that was bothering her.

I bought only one couple of guppys a few weeks ago to test if the water conditions were OK before getting more fish. I had just set up my aquarium again after some months deactivated...

I am buying more soon, so they won't fight any more...
Thanks for the tips

If you want to keep all the babies, you will probably want to seperate the female in a breeding chamber, or better yet in her own tank. That minimises stress, like you mentioned earlier. My guppies have had up to 20-30 babies per pregnancy so you probably have more on the way.

Congratulations with your success! :) and good luck
