Pregnant Guppies

Hi everyone,

My guppy is a first time mum and she is 2 weeks overdue. In this time she has only had 2 babies and is still looking quite large. Is this normal and will she still have the other babies or reabsorb them?

I've been breeding guppies for just a year and in that time I have had only one guppy have a "staggered" birth... meaning she had a few, then went a week had more then had the rest 2 weeks after that. Apparently guppies can have multiple fertilizations and therefore it is possible to have fry at different times.

Hasn't been common to happen in my limited experience but has happened once.

Also, a first time mom can also sometimes have very few babies. I've had a guppy have just 4 and another have just 11.
