I don't like breeders. Fish should be allowed to birth in a tank with plenty of space. Breeders confine fish to even more unnatural conditions, causing stress and possibly having the fish abort their fry prematurely. As Guppies are the smaller of the livebearers, you may be able to get away with the breeders, but I just don't recommend it. There's no way to tell exactly when fish will give birth exactly, which is another reason I like to let fish give birth naturally.
A separate birthing tank is what I typically recommend, but if that can't be done, the same tank normally is fine for birthing.
Putting hiding places in a tank will allow a good majority of fry to escape and not be eaten. Floating plants such as hornwort make good top hiding places. Java Moss makes an excellent plant for ground hiding places. Another non plant option is to use string. Knot it together and it will float up top. Place marbles together on the bottom creates crevices for fry to hide when born.
Most importantly, back off. These fish do this all the time. They are birthing machines. Just let them do what they do. Getting overly excited doesn't help any. Good luck.
