Please tell me I am being stupid. When I bought my endler's a baby got into the bag. It was very small and this was only about 3 or 4 weeks. I was hoping it wasn't a female but today I noticed that it is fat in the belly. It still seems to small to be pregnant but that's exactly what it looks like. It is still only a third the size of the males. I included a pic but I can't get a better shot of it cause it moves too fast. I don't want babies, it would be neat but I don't have the room.

That was funny

But seriously though I didn't know if maybe they were one of those species where the females are much smaller than the males. Of course come to think of it the male is usually smaller than the female in fish. I hope its not sick.

The female is larger then the male. I have adult males and females. Most of the fry will most likely die or be eaten if not rescued, so I wouldnt worry about overpopulating.

Its still quite young to tell for certain, endler fry all look like females and it can take quite a while for the male bars to develop even before other colours become apparent. If you can check its anal fin you may see a blunt anal fin which would indicate it being a female, if the anal fin is getting elongated then its most likely a male.

its probably just eaten a little to much of something. being in the tank with the adults means it being exposed to what they are eating. it may well have swallowed a big chunk of flake. I normally separate mine and feed them liquifry no2 for a week then tetramin baby powdered flake till they are about six weeks old. by this time they can take larger foods and move back in with the adults. the males should be developing a little colour by this stage. I love watching them develop there colours. its a cool process.
