I have i have 2 Pregnant Dalmatian mollies that are looking like they are ready to pop any day. One has started sitting at the bottom of the tank in one spot. They other one who looks bigger swims a little bit more but still is mostly chilling in the same area as the other. I have tested that water and everything is looking perfect. I was just wondering if that is normal for them to do when they are getting ready to give birth. My other worry is that my heater i have set at 82F but my thermometer says that its at 72f. Should i try turning my heater up more?!?! i want the females as comfortable as possible for there birth. PLEASE HELP.

It does sound quite normal; livebearers oftn become much less active just before they give birth.

Just to rule out any other problems though, can you post; the results from your tests, tank size, how long the tank's been running, filtration and water change regime please?

Mollies don't need it that warm and the temp settings on some filters are not very accurate. Maybe buy another thermometer so you can see which is correc; your heater or the thermometer :)

OK now my black female is just kinda floating there not really swimming posted a pic. she is scaring me and i really want her to Live please help.

Do a big water change (80 or 90%; warmed, dechlorinated water) immediately. Don't forget to switch your heater/filters off when you do a large water change!

When you've done that, post back the other info and we'll see if we can't work out what's going on with your fishies :)

tank size 10g been running about 3 weeks ammonia was 0 Nitrate 0 nitrite was 0 hardness was 75 alkalinity was about 120. and ph 7.5. i do a 10%-15% water change every other day then once a week a 20%-30%. i don't really know how to tell you the filtration kinda new to all this lol but its a aqua-tech 5-15?!?! i think that what it said.

livebearers can become quite antisocial and hide when about to give birth. they also can breath much faster and heavier.

ok water change done. How long should i wait to redo the test? Should i add any aquarium salt I've read mollies like that a little?

should be fine unless there are corydoras in there

my almost sold black molly still isnt swimming around or really moving she is just sitting on the bottom breathing hard?!?!?!

The reason i repeated that is the white one that is prego is still at least moving her fins but the black one is not.Just worried first time having prego fishie and im already in love with them..

dont worry. I have exactly the same kind of problem here and my platies have done this before. they were fine so i dont see how mollies are any different...
