Hey everyone,

I have a female dalmatian balloon molly, and I'm having a hard time telling if she is pregnant or not.
Would anyone be able to tell me some tips on working out if she is or not?

Thanks in advance!

If there's a male molly in your tank your female molly is pregnant, also most live bearers (guppies, swordtails, mollies, platies, pictas, and endlers) are already pregnant when taken home, also they can hold there babies in them from 1-6 months. So yes, your molly is probably pregnant.

So when you buy them from the fish shop they are most likely pregnant?
How long do they stay pregnant for before giving birth?

A molly will give birth every month, as long as it's heathy and as long as there's a male. Yes, most mollies you get from the pet store will probably be pregnant because they've probably been with other males.

Not that it makes a huge difference, but the female can store sperm packets for up to 6 months, rather than holding fry - 30 x 6-month-old fry inside a female would be one MASSIVE fish, or more likely lots of little bits of fish that had burst. ;)
