Heya again.
My female platy gave birth unexpectedly yesterday, it was her first time so i wasnt really sure what to look out for. But now shes got that black spot on her body again, its only small but its getting bigger. Ive heard that female platys can hold onto sperm for quite some time, but is it possible for her to be pregnant already? I heard it takes two weeks. If she is pregnant how long will it take till im blessed with more lil babies?

Thanks

3-4 would be more accurate i had one give birth two days ago and she was only 3 weeks into the second pregnancy

I think it really depends on the fish. I'd say more like 3-5, I've had them come in late as well as early. I have one that gives birth every 29 days, without fail. I can mark on the calendar Minstrel Will Give Birth Today and know without a doubt that she will. haha.

In my experience with platies and mollies the gravid spot doesn't get larger but it does get darker until it's almost black. It's a lot more noticeable with guppies - you can always tell people when their guppy is going to give birth.

Basically as soon as the last fry is gone, more eggs are being produced, but if there are no sperm to fertilise them she won't become pregnant again. If she's been pregnant once, there are almost certainly sperm. Wait. Tell us when.
Haha.

well, there is no sure way to tell. Just have to watch and see........ things happen at a different course of time, too be sure........

Dont think she would get pregnant again IN A DAY!!! thats some super sperm, how many did she drop, my platties usually take 2 days to get them all out before they start again,
wish i had platties like yours laurafrog, the hours ive spent looking in the grass for little orange pinns :) but all worth it
let us know
