i'm confused. my newest molly looked pregnant to me- maybe she was sick- who knows, but i found her dead this morning after seeing her hide from the other fish last night. would her being pregnant killed her if she wasn't real healthy to begin with?

Hi,
The same thing happened to me. I was told it was most probably a disease i think it was called 'Dropsy' or something along those lines. Someone may tell you otherwise.

yes that can happen but are you sure she was pregnant it might have been dropsy was her scales sticking out like pinecones?

The most likely culprit is prbably dropsy or some other disease as pregnant fish usually do not become pregnant unless they are healthy, and if they are pregnant and become ill or stressed, will usually prematurely have the babies or absorb them depending on how far along they are. But you never know, it couldve been pregnancy complications, but I'd look into disease first.

her scales weren't sticking out. i thought she was maybe bloated if not pregnant, but she looked very pregnant to me. her belly was round- she wasn't swimming much though, just chilling in one spot.
