(its a video)

The orange one.. I bought her like that over a week ago because she looked a bit of a fatty...

but I'm probably wrong...

what's you thoughts?

If she has been in a tank with males, she is probably pregnant. She also looks like she is well fed, but not fat.

Yup there was a few males in the same tank.

hopefully the other mollys will eat her babies or something -.-

That is more likely to happen if the fish are on the peckish side of things. Keep in mind that females can continue to give birth for 3-9 months after being separated from males.

Then the other female mollies will also be having babies regularly, not just this one :)

best get me a 2nd tank then... cant see all the babies not surviving.

and my LFS takes fish as well :good:

Might pay to get a few grow out tanks. You never know, you might get right into it and start breeding some nice strains and breeding some fancies. :good:

As the above poster has said, You may start breeding them. Seeing the babies sort of makes you want to see them more often so you end up breeding them like I do. My Golden Black Speckled female gave birth sometime recently and now I can't wait till she has her next lot.

Doesnt it start to inbred eventually?

Also how do you keep the fry tank cycled for the next lot?

Also how soon do you separate the babies from the mum?

They can start to inbreed if you don't intercede but otherwise they are usually fine. You don't need a fry tank, I don't have one... Just plenty of cover in the tank. Plus Mollies tend to have more feelings towards their babies. Mine doesn't bother her babies, it's just other fish you have to worry about. Babies can be separated from their mother straight away if you want to save every single one but I will warn you that Mollies can have lot's of babies. Mine had 27 in her first drop and they have more as they get older.

Well my tank is well planted and more to come

But I'm aiming for getting 43 fish in my 180l

And 30 fry each female will be an overload on my filter I think...

chances are they are inbred to buggery already, most live bearers are :|

If you're not after many babies, I'd move the male to a different tank or take him to your LFS. Even though the ladies will store sperm from him, they should eventually run out!

With the fry, if you wait till they're 2cm-ish they can be given to your lfs, or you can just take out some hiding spaces so the other fish eat them. :good:
