I was wondering what kind of predatory fish I could keep in a 10 gallon? I was thinking a needle fish, but I know those grow well over 6 inches If I remember, so any fish that could be in there? He can be fed a constant supply of convict fry.

i've asked about small piscavores in the past and was told that the chaca chaca (frogmouth catfish) would be your best bet.

whats the footprint of that? in inches if poss lol

why a baby one, plan for the adult size

hmm depending on the footprint
possibly one male Belonesox belizanus belizanus or the more robust Belonesox belizanus maxillosus
females of both species wold get too big

I was thinking DP's, not nescessarily predatory in the true sense of the word but they can be viscious little buggers!

i'm sorry, i should have specified. there are lots of teeny predators but the smallest obligate piscavore (i.e. convict fry disposal fish) that you can easily get and keep in a 10g is the chaca chaca.

since this fish only moves about once every 4 weeks when it's hungry, a 10g with a good filter should be fine.

If you can find one,I think an African butterfly. They're top swimmers, and they only get about 4 inches long. They'll eat live food with gusto!

Edit: oh and they are very odd looking fish. They'll have your guests pondering till you finally tell them what it is!
