about 2 months ago i rehomed some sterbai cories from a guy that was breaking down his tank. they were in a bad way as the fins were quite tatty and they colour wasnt anywhere as bright as my other sterbais. when getting them home i tested the water from his aquarium and it was high in both ammonia and nitrite so i rehomed them in one of my established set ups i use for new fish. after inspecting them more closely i could see a lot of dorsal fin damage and redness around a couple of their gills. i kept an eye on them and expected to treat them in the near future for any signs of illness that might arrise. after a few days i noticed the redness subsiding and the colour improving really well. as no more signs of illness were present i just left them to see if there fins would start getting better also. fast forward to now and i havent lost any and they are so much more healthier than when i got them apart from their dorsal fins still. is they anything i can use to aid the recovery as although they dont seem to be getting worse id like them to make a complete recovery. ive read on here of melafix being used in this situation, correct?

unless there is any redness or signs of infection on the fin i wouldnt give them anything other than plenty of fresh clean water . they should heal fine on their own .
