well i am not sure what else will happen but violet looks very less lifeless today.

i am asking for prayers to help her out.

she is kinda floating sideways which may not be a very good sign. however, she has had a lot of meds today so it may be working for her or against her.

poor girl.

So you've got her QT'ed now right? What meds are you treating her with? I hope she recovers quickly, but when they're laboring at the bottom of the tank it's usually an uphill battle, I'm sorry to say. :(

*Sends a prayer out for Violet and Gareth*

Edit: I just read another of your posts. Did you do a half dose with the melafix? If not, that may be causing her down slide and you may need to do a water change stat.

yes please keep sending prayers for violet.

phaedra, i have 1/2 melafix and 1/2 pimafix with stress coat and stresszyme as water conditions in her water in a new tank. in the morning i put her in a bigger tank which i added the parasite clear but when i got back from errands, it seemed that the parasite clear really weakened her and she was barely moving but when she did it was like lop-sided and she was struggling to get around. i never seen her that rock bottom.

however, in either tank, she is always at the top, never at the bottom. she is not puffy.

i have always tried to feed her but she never eats. she just swims by the food. pellets. freeze dried blood worms. flakes. she doesn't care for any of it. and much less today.

i can only imagine she is soooo weak.

and not that i want her to die, but i am just really amazed that her spirit is soooo strong and willing.

she is going to be my prayer fish and i have asked God to please take care of her for me; that i want her around and i want Him to please get her through this. she is a wonderful fish.

Gareth,

Have you thought of crushing up your pellets and flakes? Othello, my dumb balloon molly that got beaten up, is having trouble eating in his QT tank and i think its from his inability to swim. I feed him his flakes in small quantities and he has alot of trouble getting them down. (I do realize that yeah, at least he's trying to eat). So now i've crushed the flakes up really small for him so he doesn't have to struggle and can just "swallow" them.

Keep her water warm and you have my dearest prayers. Betta girls are some of the best fish in the world. I wish i had seen this post earlier, i was an acolyte a mass and i would have lit a candle for you and her.

thank you kitty for such a great idea! crushing the pellets and flakes to very tiny tiny dust like particles.

well i did try to make a new tank with a bit of warmer water temp to 87 degrees. i am sure it will come down as the night progresses. this tank is the hospital tank and is not filtered.

odd enough, i saw violet try desperately to swim down to the bottom several times but it was as if she was having a hard time getting to the bottom only to end up floating up to the top. so i googled this and it came up with swim bladder disease.

at least tonight she is swimming around her tank - the most movement she's had all day. although th simply just floats at the top but no longer lop-sided like she was after the heavy dose of parasite clear.

it's still too early to say if she is better as i know she is not herself.

the odd thing is that her swim bladder issue today, if that is what it is, i know is not due to constipation! she barely has eaten.

poor thing, i can see her darting to get to the bottom but she can't stay down there! she has a little fake plant that if she swims underneath the right petal, she can anchor herself beneath the water if that is what she wants. she's trying to swim to the bottom but she just can't stay there!!!!!

i am still amazed that she is still with me despite all her challenges.

thank you all for your prayers for violet. please keep them coming.
