Hi. I have got three plecos in my tank along with some messy cichlids. The amount of poop on the sand does not bother me, but it knocks the other half sick. I normally siphon it once a week. I am running two externals and have just moved the inlet and outflow off one of them so that now both inlets are in the same corner and vice versa. This was to try and create a flow to the inlets to get the poop up. Question time: would a powerhead halfway down the end side wall pointing down the length towards the inlets help? If so, would tank decor affect this much? It is 300l and 4 foot so I was thinking around 2000lph.

That's what I did in my 4' 60 US gallon. Except I'm running 2 180 gph powerheads. One in the upper front corner, the other about half way down toward the rear. It really does help keep my sand looking clean, although its a Malawi tank packed with rocks, so I'm sure a lot of debris just ends up under them.

Ah yeh I can see how two smaller ones may be better to get a flow through the whole tank.

Yeh those were the ones that I was looking at. I wasnt sure if the 1500lph would be too much or not. I suppose that I could get that one or two of the nano ones.

If you are going with propeller pumps one larger one will be fine. When I hear powerhead, I think of just a powerhead. Sorry for the confusion.

ah yes I just realised that some of the others are just a pump firing a jet of water. My mistake. Yes it is the prop one I was after.
