My power went out for a mere hour and a half.. Most my stock was impartial to it, but during that time, I lost all 5 of my upside down catfish.. I had no idea they were all that fragile..
Lesson learned, invest in a power strip with battery backup...
Would any, more hardy catfish work in a 37 USG tank, 30"x12"x24"? Tank mates are a fairly docile (but very young) firemouth, and a large group of tiger barbs which is likely only going to get larger.
Lots of driftwood decor, and young anubias nana, anubias barteri, and java fern. pH of tap is 7.8, but I haven't tested pH of tank water with the edition of real driftwood. But it's probably not far apart. Temperature is 78 when the power isn't out
Of course, I'd like to get a fish that can handle a large variety water perimeters... I still make newbie mistakes, after all...
Plecos count as catfish, but I've grown somewhat distasteful of them because my last one was a poo machine. My filter power since than has tripled, but I still don't know if it's strong enough to keep my sand clean. I'd also like to avoid bristlenose plecos. Not a fan, really. They're effective, and smaller, but they're just ugly IMHO, and if I'm getting a pleco, it's to be an edition to the tank, not just algae control. I control my algae fine without an algae eater
Any suggestions are appreciated... Thanks much.
