Hey guys! We had a HUGE Storm wednesday night. It blew someones roof of thier house and into the middle of the road. Tree's down everywhere. Well, thursday morning, our power went out at about 5 AM. It was out all day thursday and turned back on today at 8 AM. Well, I have 3 fish tanks, and the power was out for 28 hours.

Thursday, I used some caplets I bought at a auction that raises the tanks oxygen level. I also put a little bit in the filter so the bacteria wont die( they were without ammonia though). So, atm I have no dead fish. Im doing a HUGE waterchange today ( leaving Sunday after church to work at a church camp for 2 weeks). But, what are the chances my tanks will re-cycle? I have baby Bristlenosed pleco's and thier parents in one tank, 5 Labs in another, and a recouperating female lab in another tank( finished breeding). Please help! If it turns out I ahve an ammonia spike, I will get ahold of some fish club members and see if they can spare a mature sponge or two.

Its ok you have probably only lost 15% of your bacteria but get a battery powered air pump. Place the outlet for the air pump underneath all the filter media and it will keep a flow through the filter even whilst there is a blackout.

during the big ice storm in the northeast in december i lost power for over 4 days! my canister filter didnt skip a beat when we got power back, much to my relief. im sure youll be fine. just keep testing and changing as necesary incase of minicycle.
