I just recently added a Catalina aquarium ca-900 that has a biological filter attachment to my 55 gallon tank I figured it couldn't do any harm. I originally bought it for another reason but since it was just sitting their I figured I would throw it in my 55. I don't know much about them any help? Maybe some pros and cons?

Anything that helps with circulation and aeration can only be a good thing, provided it's not throwing the fish about

I've recently removed my airpump/aircurtain in favour of a 900lph powerhead,

Yeah I figured a lot of these fish are from rivers and flowing waters naturally I was just wondering if their was anything I was looking past. Thank you.

I have a power head on a timer in my tank. Runs for an hour each end of the day, just help with the aeration of the water as the tanks filter doesn't break the surface.

My Rasboras love it.

What fish have you got? Some will love it but some will hate it

Yes, my Tetras love it and try to swim upstream!

I just have mine positioned to make the current along the back and it makes a bit of a swirl in the tank but by the time the swirl reaches the front its very gentle and the slower fish stay in the front.

I have 2 golden dojos 1 leaf fish 4 black skirt tetras 3 clown loaches 1 catfish 1 gourami 1 pleco 1 cichlid they Havnt really been interacting with it.

Don't know about the others but be sure to keep an eye on the gourami to make sure he/she is okay :)

I have a African spotted leaf fish in the tank and since I added the power head he has been laying low. He is my favorite and one of my first fish any body no if it should affect him to bad? Please help :-(

Leafs don't appreciate a lot of flow, they try to blend in with floating plants leaves in still water areas

Try moving the powerhead lower down the tank or position the flow away from the areas he hangs out in
