Power Gone Off

Changing the water doesn't affect the cycle, it only dilutes the mild pollutants the filter cannot break down, nitrate, posphate etc. I would do a 50% water change soon, make sure it's similar temp, similar pH, and then just wait and see. If your filter had only just cycled then it probably wasn't strong enough to take being stopped for a while.

I'm sorry about your losses, and hope you can keep going.

Any time you feel that your water needs to be oxygenated, just stick your hand down into the water and move it about. That will create air within the water.

If you've just finished cycling your tank, and you used these fish for cycling, it could be that they were failing before the power outage. If you feel that you need to keep your tank warm and you're experiencing a power outage, wrap a blanket around the tank. That will help to preserve the heat.

Sorry for your losses.

Sorry for your losses I had 80% of my fish die in my 75 gallon (of about 25-30 fish) after a power outage...That was a nightmare..best of luck in fixing it

Thanks so much guys. The guppies were introduced after the tank was cycled. We have been doing regular water checks, every 3 days as I love my little fishies and we've had so many problems with having to cycle the tank with fish in (after being wrongly advised by the LFS). Everything was fine until the power went off. Then all of a sudden fish started dying. I'll get the hubby to do another 25% water change today then. The poorly guppy seems a bit better today, the other guppy isn't pecking its gills anymore but it does have white stringy poo. I would normally bang a bit of flubenol in it but we have snails you see and the last thing I want to do is kill them off and make the readings even worse. x
