If you buy the aquatic plants that come in little plastic plant pots, should you take them out of the pot and plant them, or leave them in the pot?

i used to leave them in the pot but they would always die :( in my new tank though i actually plant them and they are doing great!! (although there is more light and ferts )

i would say plant them :good: how big is your gravel? (or have you got sand?)

Generally potted plants come in a grey floss stuff called "Nutrifloss". If the plants you have bought do have this on them you must remove it before you put it in your tank, Nutrifloss does what it says on the tin and will give you no end of algae problems in your tank ;)

If on the other hand your plants dont have this on them at all, ignore me!
:good:

The plant does seem to be in some sort of grey foam. I have gravel in the tank, I've previously had a plant thriving in there but it actually grew too big and straggly and I replaced it with this smaller one in the pot.

I'll plant it properly tomorrow then, I already have quite a lot of green algae and I don't want to make it worse.

i always plant them, there is one plant i got but i cant remember the name of, that i left in the pot and it grew amazing.
