Potted Plants

Could all root plants be potted? That way I could add laterite directly to the pot. Id also imagine when moving decor around and stuff it would be easier to uproot the plants. What are your thoughts?

I do it in my bare bottom discus tank, I've use aquatic compost covered with gravel and laterite, when my discus tank had a silver sand substrate i put my sword plants in a pot with aquatic soil, to give them a nutrient rich substrate, worked fine.
