Hello all! :p

Ok, hear me out now, cos this is going to sound like a very silly question. I want to move my plants out of the plastic pots they came in from the LFS, to nice terracotta ones. It just occured to me that it could look very good, and also a little different. So what do I put into the pots first? Sand? Earth then sand? Any other additives to send them on their way? Has anyone else made this change recently, and if so, what sort of results have you had? I just think my gravel is little too large in diameter to support root growth at 4-6mm size. Any thoughts? And remember, I have only just put the plants into this tank three weeks ago, all the previous ones were plastic. I know nothing really at all about plants in general, but I'm learning slowly... .....Thankyou.

Adding plants to the tank

My gravel is about that diameter and all my plants are rooted directly into it. The best sign to me that they were taking was a week after the initial planting, i looked up at the bottom glass of the aquarium (i have an open metal stand) and saw plenty of roots spreading out across the bottom of the tank.

The tricky part is keeping the stem plants stuck in the gravel until they decide to root and take hold.
