edit.....think i got it now, u mean ship through the mail??

how far are you shipping it?

chances are the bacteria will die from the change in temperature

Well this is exactly what I was thinkin.
Dont know where im sending it yet. I have a spare Fluval U2 filter, all the media for it is currently inside my fx5.
I was thinking bout selling it on here, kinda of a filter with mature media combo.
Would be great for a newbie.
Jus need to think of a way to send the media assuming I find a buyer that is.

As long as the media is kept wet, at least some bacteria should survive. I'd send it next day delivery to be safe.

There are also heat packs you can include to keep the heat up, though whether they'd make any difference to the bacteria survival rates, I don't know.

Bacteria will only die if the temp gets really high, it won't die even if it is cold, it will just slow down.

Best way to post would be the wrap in some damp kitchen role (tank water), and in a zip bag. Post it first class as well.

It is thought that bacteria dies off at around 5-10% a day. So all sould be ok if sent first class.

Fantastic. Thanx for your help
