Postcard to FW from SW

oh stunning !

It's oh so tempting.....

Space space space :-(

great pictures,

i'll be joining very shortly, just putting the finishing touches to the stand to make it a bit quieter in my room then I'm ready to roll.

YES!!! WTG Paul MTS.....get us some pix when you get your tank up and running. Welcome aboard. SH

I plan to set up a nano-reef of around 15 gallons at some point.

very nice tank and exceptionally clean! What is your clean up crew?

Just one thing, you do know that Leather Corals get quite big right?

Very nice though, giving me some inspiration thats for sure :)

Ben

With your Orange cup coral, tubastrea aurea, does it open like a zoo? I saw some at the LFS's i visited yesterday and i thought they opened? :)

To Mr. Miaggi....they do open and close similarly to zoanthids...these have not yet. They are not photosynthetic and must be fed. They may be closed still from the acclimation process. Hopefully they will open soon. I tried feeding it tonite but they did not open.

To Bunjiweb..yes, I know the leathers will grow. I'll 'frag' it when it does. I'll be happy to trade some when that time comes. My starting cleanup crew was:

1) 5 astrea
2) 5 nassarius
3) 2 scarlet hermits
4) 2 blue legged hermits
5) 1 emerald crab
6) one skunk cleaner shrimp

When I thought I needed a little more punch, I added one Trochus and 2 margaritas. I'm thinking of adding a second cleaner. We'll see.

To other FW's, one more added today:

Hammer coral (euphyllia ancora)

C'mon over. SH

Hey..thought I'd add another beautiful coral pic for you guys since I was able to snap a good one today. This is ricordea florida. Isn't it amazing at the difference in colors between FW and SW:

This one is called acansthastrea echinata or a rainbow acan:

Come on over and crash our party. SH

that pic of the ricordea is awesome!! what i wuould like ot know is how you placed it in the rock like you have it almost looks like it is laying on the surrounding rocks?

If/when you get it to adhere, it drapes itself over the rock like a blanket. SH

Your previous coral shots, along with the great photos from the other salties here has already made me decide that somewhere down the road, I WILL be setting up a SW tank. But until that time comes, I'll just live vicariously through all you marine heads :D

Keep those great SW pics coming!!! :kewlpics:

just a quick question, are you sure your ocellaris is not a percula? to me it looks like an awful lot

your photos are amazing though!

You know.....it was sold as an ocellaris, but, to be honest, I never had the time to eyeball it and decide for myself. I was wondering about that the other..was thinking the same thing. I'll have to go over the descriptions and check it out.

To Jason....as for costs, do you mean MY specific tank? meaning a 24G Nano Cube, etc? or.....in general, a nano system....do you want me to PM you if you are looking at budget type stuff? SH

no biggie, if it was sold as an ocellaris then you probably got a good deal out of it anyway, as i've noticed that percs tend to be priced more than the ocellaris for some reason.

from what i've always read & heard, the main difference visually between the 2 is the amount of black outlining on the white stripes. ocellaris tends to have very little to none and percs tend to have a lot more.

either way, hope you're enjoying your clown and i love your pics!
