Ok, well, long post made shorter...I have 3 Female Guppies and 1 Male. I suspect - and that's a weak suspect since I've yet to have a single "positive" pregnant fish - that one might be pregnant, and getting close to ready to deliver.

Here's what I've seen: When I bought her a week ago, she was a bit bigger than the other 2 I got with her. Now, looking at her stomach, she looks about double the size. In the past couple of hours, I've noticed that she's gone from being all swim happy to being more interested in hiding - and staying VERY close to the bottom of the tank. In fact, she was hidden so well for a while that I was worried I lost her. I tossed in a few small crumbled flakes and she came out. She grabbed a bit of food - much less than she usually eats - and started back towards the bottom.

Just to make sure she's ok - and for the fry's protection - I figured I'd try to net her and put her in a breeder, but only if I could do so without chasing her all over the tank. I stuck my net in and she swam right into it. Figured it was a sign. ;) I placed her in a breeder and turned off the tank lights. Tried to give her a bit more food, but she doesn't seem interested in food. Just in being left alone.

I thought at first that perhaps she was just sick and that she couldn't possibly be ready to give birth - let alone pregnant. I'm just not that lucky with breeding lately, lol! Well, I checked out the pinned topic - birth of a fry and the clip Number 2 - the one with the side view of the guppy in labor - she's literally that big, with no exaggeration!

So, wish me luck and cross your fingers! Hopefully I have a guppy that's about to be a mommy!!!! :D It'd be really cool if I did, but I got myself all excited over my molly last time just to find out I was wrong. I'm probably not going to really id a pregnant / in labor fish until I get a chance to breed a batch of fry. :)

Oh - I also thought I read somewhere that doing a water change will sometimes help induce labor, I did my normal water change today, so maybe that might have something to do with it. :D

Becca, Becca, Becca.....It's not if guppies will have babies its when and the longest you will have to wait if there is a male close by is 28 days. If yur female looks like this then she is close if not you have a bit of time to wait yet. Good Luck :D

lol - your replies always crack me up!! :D

YAY! She looks like that! :D Maybe a BIT smaller, but pretty darn close! :D Sorry, I'm giddy, and nervous as well. I don't want to do something to screw it up, but I want to make sure as many of the little buggers live. I may have moved her too soon, but I *KNOW* the fry wont' survive long in my tank, even with the extra plants. I have too many scavengers, they're numbers will likely get plucked out quickly.

:rip: Guppy. :(

I came home today excited that I might have some pregnant fishies and the mama was dead, still very bloated, still has a large black gravid spot. No sign of babies - though there was some poopies in the breeder area. I'm glad I moved to her to the breeder though - if she would have died in the tank, I'd be afraid I'd never find her. :(

Not sure what happened, by the time I got home, she was gone and quite stiff. : :byebye:
