Hi everyone, Hope someone can help me diagnose a problem I am worrying about.

I have a small aquamode 20L tank, set up as tropical.

Nitrite and Amonia levels are fine both at zero. But today I have noticed lots of small white particles floating about in the tank.
A couple of the fish seem to have these on their tails as well. I thought at first they were tiny bubbles but now that I have noticed them on the fish I am not so sure. Could this be whitespot?

Does it look like grains of salt on the fish.
Small bubbles on fish can be a sign of a whitespot breakout.

yes it does look like salt but there is not a lot just a few bits on the tail and on the top of the body. When I had a coldwater tank many years ago I had an outbreak of whitespot but the fish were plastered with spots, so this is why I am unsure. Do they float about in the water too?

Yes they can attach to plants as well.
Turn temp up to 30, remove black carbon if you use it.
Increase aeration as the high temp and med reduce 02 in the water.
Add the med but follow instructions carefully as some fish cannot tolerate the full dose.

Whitespot looks like this pic.

Thanks Wilder, its a real pain, as i was about to add another couple of guppies at the weekend. People keep telling me it is easier to look after a tropical tank rather than coldwater, but as yet, I am not finding this. But i love this hobby, although I am new to keeping tropical fish. Thanks.

The bigger the tank the better, your tank is very small what fish do you have in it.
Livebearers are active fish and need plenty of room to move, really all that tank size is good for is a betta.
Small tanks are very hard to keep water stats good as there not much to work with, would enjoy the hobby and fish alot better with a bigger tank.
