Hey there, was wondering if anyone might be able to help with this.
Curious to know if anyone here has ever had the experience of inheriting an aquarium to find that the water heater that came with it was missing a thermostat? And if so whether or not this is a reason to be concerned?
Reason I'm asking is because this has been my family's recent experience. We inherited three tropical fish from a family friend who had to give them away under emergency circumstances just 5 days ago - and have noticed this is the case with the main heating device that came included with the tank. As it also has a back up heater that does come with a thermostat - this isn't a problem right now. But we were still wondering whether or not we should consider replacing the main heater with a new one with a thermostat included - or, if it's not possible to buy these seperately, replace the tank and all it's equipment altogether. I've been feeling this is something we should look into, but at the same time - being very much a newbie to fish caring - am appreciating we could be worrying ourselves over nothing so would be very grateful to hear any opinions/advice anyone else here might want to share.
Many thanks in advance for reading!
