Fish Fanatic
I'm not sure that I have a problem so I am writing to ask. I have a dwarf sunset platy who appears to have a scale missing on its side. It doesn't look like any fungus or parasite pictures I've seen. It just looks like a scale is missing. When she gets just right in the tank the light shines through that area more than the surrounding. My question is, do I actually have a problem? Could one of the other fish have bit her? (no blood or anything) Is this a disease? If it is not a disease will the scale grow back?
The fish is acting totally normal, no loss of appetite, swimming all around the tank, chasing her playmate, etc.
Here's all the info on my tank.
Tank size: 10 gal
pH: 7.6 (has been that since the start)
ammonia: 0
nitrite: didn't test cause ammonia is 0
nitrate: 10 ppm
kH: don't know what this is
gH: don't know what this is either
tank temp: 80F
Volume and Frequency of water changes: I do a 25% water change weekly since it is a small tank and I am still getting used to how much my critters eat
Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: Only Aquasafe with water changes
Tank inhabitants: 2 dwarf sunset platys (f), 2 white skirt tetras, 2 julii corys (all currently about half their adult size)
Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): Added the second cory and a water sprite plant almost a week ago
Exposure to chemicals: Not possible
Thanks for your help,
Debra
