Just given our corys some bloodworm and one of them has it hanging out of his gill on one side. Another Panda has tried to tug at it but it didn't come out. He isn't doing anything to try to dislodge it.

Is this a problem and if so what should we do?

I don't think it will be a problem but I've never seen it before. I know it is late where you are so if you're concerned about waiting, you may want to try catching him and removing it with some tweezers.

Hi
I was afraid you might say that  Didn't know whether it would do more harm than good. We'll give it a while.

Thanks for looking, its much appreciated

Further to - In total 2 panda's and 1 sterbai had this bloodworm/gill thing. The sterbai and one panda shifted them last night and the other panda was fine this morning :good:

Could this have damaged anything?? I ask because one of the panda's is acting a bit strange. He is fine, feeding and mooching about with the others and then he stops, tilts to the side and stays there for about 5-10 seconds. He then carries on swimming about????

Water stats = Amm - 0, NitrIte - 0, NitrAte - 10/15, Ph - 7.2.

Any thoughts

This has always been normal with my cories if I feed them bloodworm, they try to scoff them down as quickly as they can so some come out of the gills.

Nothing to worry about IME, if they get stuck for a long time though then it might sometimes be best to catch the fish and you'll find the worm with come out very easily with a pair of tweezers.

Thanks geo7x

I've been looking at some threads from last year which bettas had the same thing.

The panda appears to be fine now.

Thanks
