Hiya,

I'm considering breaking down my 60l marine Nano tank due to cost and time constraints and making it a planted tank. I'd love to get a lovely Betta from one of the online stores for it, but I sort of want to build the tank around the Betta.

I have my TMC V2 100 external filter but I think the flow it created would be too much for the Betta to handle, so I'll move that on. What I'm looking for is ideas on substrate, filtration, plants, and tank mates for a 60l. I do plan to keep a number of shrimp, Amano or Crystal Reds yet, I'm not sure. The lid on it was modified for the Aquabeam LED bar that's on it now, so I'll probably get one of TMC's GroBeam LED lights to fit the same shape.

Any ideas and suggestions are welcome :)

Substrate doesn't matter for a betta. They loave loads of plants to rest on and lots of cover. Good tank mates are cardinal tertras, neons, cory, platy, rasboras, pitbull plec, snails.

Hi Murloc

if your planting then i would say sand would be best, i have it in all my tanks as they are all planted (even the little 3gals)

Tankmates can vary on each betta, in your sized tank you have a good amount of options :good: if your wanting shrimp i'd advice bigger speices such as Amano over cherries (my females tore an adult cherry to peices)

i have a group of 8 Kuhli loach in my 60l with my bettas, am hoping to add to this number once i find them again. Dwarf cories are also good, i have them in another 60l with a betta and some pencil fish :)

with my females i have endlers, platies, plecos and snails :good:
