In our 125gal tank, there is this little loach that I'm fairly certain has an internal parasite. It was one of the first ones we got but it hasn't grown at all.
It swims around and eats normally. Saw it today after I fed the tank and it had a fat little belly of food, but as I said, it hasn't grown.
The problem is that I can't get it out of the tank. There is just too much stuff in the tank, and it would be impossible unless I took it all out which is not happening.
Plus I'm sure it probably wouldn't do very well on it's own even if I could get it out.

So my question is, what med should I use? I've read that you could soak bloodworms in a med and feed that to fish to help treat the problem, BUT if I did this, would that hurt the other fish who aren't effected?
I'm sure it's probably not the only fish in the tank that has a parasite problem. I'm not positive, but a few of the cories also haven't really grown much.

Any info would be fantastic.

Here is a bad photo of it. It's the little loach right in the middle of the photo

Depends which parasite it is.

What does it look like when he goes to the toilet.
Any worms prutruding from the anus.
Is the anus enlarged or red and inflamed.
Lost any fish to bent spines or sunken in bellys.
Does any fish swim on there sides.

What's your location.

I'm in the US.

No idea what the poo looks like. Anus doesn't look swollen, nothing coming out of it. All of the fish act/swim normal. Haven't lost any fish to sunken bellies or bent spines.

Ok.

He suggests meds for internal parasites.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the link, BUT what if I can't seperate the fish and put them in to a hospital tank.
Also, the fish does act totally normal. No clamped fins, eats just fine, looks like a normal young clown loach that you'd buy in a store, but as I mentioned, it hasn't grown. All of the clown loaches, including the one that we got about a month? after the others have filled out a considerable bit.

If it is an internal parasite... would the fish not effected be harmed by medicated food (frozen brine shrimp or bloodworms soaked in the med).

If one fish has internal parasites the other fish are at risk.
Even sucking a fish poo up can infect the fish.

Its best to worm fish anyway. If you can't get him out of the tank you will have to med the whole tank i'm afraid. If he does have internal parasites the whole tanks want medicating anyway.

Okedoke, thanks so much Wilder :) I figured that if one has something wrong, there were probably others as well, but I'm just so hesitant to treat with anything just in case the fish that aren't effected might have a bad reaction.
Will have to take a trip to the petstore this weekend and get some meds :)

Ask in tropical discussion about the med you are going to use if it's fine with the fish you keep.
