I have three Mickey Mouse Platys and three dalmation Mollies. One of my platys got stuck in a hole in a decoration. I was able to push him out the way he got in. However, his back is now missing its scales. Is this a serious injury for him? Will the other fish start pecking at his injury or anything? Should I move him into his own tank? I haven't done so yet because I didn't want to stress him out any more. the other fish so far have not bothered him. In fact, I was very suprised to see the other two platys sit right next to him when I got him out of the hole. He swam into a corner and sort of hovered by the ground. the other two did the same right next to him.

should I be concerened about infection etc, and how should I prevent it?

yes, I'm new to keeping fish so I apologize for all the questions.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Just wanted to add that this is a 20 gallon tank with amonia, nitrites, and nitrites all 0.

One of my angels did exactly the same type of thing some time ago.
I had to manhandle him alot to get him out, he also injured himself.
He was sad and sorry for a day or so but healed quite nicely in the end.

I added some melafix and some pimafix to the tank to help healing.

Just be sure to keep a close eye on him.

some salt too can be good :good:

and apparently, good cleaan water helps healing too, so plenty of water changes

thanks for the quick responses. thankfully I do already have some salt in there since the mollies prefer brackish water. Have been putting in 10ML every 25% water change.

I'll have to go get some of melafix and pimafix after I check that they are both ok with plants etc.

Thanks!

Melafix and Pimafix are fine with everything - plants, inverts, biological filter, etc, so no need to worry about that.
