Hey, I know the tank is big enough but I am worried about the current for the fish. I am using a big filter and I am wondering if it will give off to much current for the fish. I took a picture of the current the tank gives off. Also, if I didnt use a filter would a 30% water change once a week keep the water clear.

One male. I have a 55 gallon tank but the fish may be to agressive to put him in with them. The filter I have running is for a 55 gallon tank. I used to have turtles in this tank and the big filter kept it cleaner.

That is a really large tank for one betta. I would say the current is kinda strong but I am not sure on that. He might be ok if he stays in the middle grounds of the tank but I don't know if the current is strong down there. I would suggest looking for a different filter.

BTW I have a side question. What kind of turtles did you have? I saw some at Petco the other day and I decided I really want one. What minimum size tank for one turtle would you suggest?

I had a Red Ear Slider and another turtle. I dont know the name of the other one because my friend found him in a trailer and the owner just left him there. I would say they need a 29 gallon tank. I had mine in another 55 gallon but the tank started leaking. They get pretty big. They got so big I had to let them go in a creak. The turtles are super nasty. I had to totally strip my tank down once a week. If I let the tank go longer than a week the water would be brown. Keep in mind I Had these turtles in a 10 gallon tank with a filter that pumps 350 gallons per hour. the current really isnt that bad now that I look at it. The water just runs into the tank slowly.. It dont shoot out water like most power filters.

I would just take the filter out, personally. Most bettas prefer still water... when I had just two bettas and I went away on vacation, I unplugged the filters... and the two boys who rarely made bubblenests both had one when I got home, lol. I only have a filter in one of my single-betta tanks now, and I'm pondering taking that one out too. Yours is a big tank for just one betta, it'd be perfectly fine without a filter. :)

A red ear slider is what I saw. I would get a 55 for them but since you say they are nasty maybe I will rethink my plans. Thanks for the info.

I've kept a red eared slider for a while when I was younger. I kept it in a community tank with silver "shark" fish, the size of the feeder goldfish petshops supply. As it got bigger, it ate some of the fish and sometimes it climbed out of the 55 gallon tank and wandered around the house. XD We would find it and put it back in. The tank didn't really get too dirty--I think it was because we had a couple of large algae-eaters. But the turtle was pretty interesting. You can google them; you'll find some pretty good sites on red eared sliders.

Oh, and the ones you saw in the petstores were what size? When I got mine, it was the size of a silver dollar. It were so cute! They grow really fast, though. :D
