I bought a shrimp the other day because he was very unusual. I went to buy a large fesh water long armed algea eater (clear body, long arms, croocked back and pitiful claws) but on searching they could not find him but found another long armed shrimp I now believe to be a srilankan long arm shrimp. I took this guy home (his body is about 2" long) but him in my community aquarium and he went psycho trying to catch everything in my tank, unfortunatly for him everything or most things could potentially eat him so he soon got put in his place (especially off my block heads and knife fish) I removed him and put him in a 4ft tank with just a pair of red forest juwel's. He seems fine in there and they seem to leave each other alone but can these critters actually do any harm? There claws dont look very powerful at all when you compare them to crayfish and even small crab's like the red clawed crab. I tried putting my finger next to him to see how hard he can nip but he wasnt interested. He has quite a little personnality and I would like to keep him but if he is going to be a pest I will have to get rid

Long arm shrimp are normally machrobrachium which can be nasty buggers. The fish will be to fast for him to catch and so I doub't any should go missing but he will eat fry and snails regularly. You should get frozen bloodworm to feed him as well as test vegetables on him to see if he will take any.
