Popeye *update*

Hello all, I just thought I'd post and say that my sister's betta currently has popeye disease.
It's only on its right eye, and its bulging out quite a bit. Sorry, I couldn't get a picture of it, I tried and it was blurry every time I tried.
We currently have it on Maracyn®, and its in a hospital tank.
Any ideas on how I could help the fish at all?

A broad-spectrum antibiotic for gram-positive bacterial infections. For infections of columnaris (body fungus), fin and tail rot, popeye, gill disease, and secondary infections.

Great, so according to the directions, I should put some in the tank every 24 hours for 5 days.

Just a question, popeye isn't really fatal, is it?

Yes it is as it's a build up of fluids.
Get treating fast with the maracyn.

A quick update: We've been doing our best to treat the fish, but it looks like the popeye is beginning to spread to it's second eye.
What does this mean about the fish's chance of survival?

It might not have much of a chance, but keep treating it with maracyn.

How old is the fish?

We aren't quite sure. We got him from our LFS sometime last year.

I would move onto the anti internal bacteria med by interpet.
Sounds like the myxazin is doing nothing, I think myxazin controls popeye and that it.

Well, the fish's eye is doing a little better, but he's still very active, which kind of contradicting, because everything that I've read says that they get a bit more sluggish when they have popeye, so I'm confuzzled. Any ideas?

Every fish is different maybe some will be sluggish abit like us some of us will be worse than others suffering from the same thing.
its a good thing he's not acting sluggish.
I would carry on with the med for another week.
