I picked up a new betta who has a slight case of pop-eye, just a quick question on what to use, and how...

Should I use Maracyn or Maracyn two ( My vote is towards the latter )

Though, both say to use it per 10 gal...My tank is only 5gal, could/should I just use half of the treatment per packet, per treatment? If not, how should I go about doing treating it.

Also, how often should I be doing water changes during treatment, would 25% daily be ok? Or is that too much?

Also, just out of curiosity is pop-eye contagious?Any other info you can provide on treating this would be helpful, thank you.

can't help you with maracyn but pop-eye can be brought about by poor water quality, damage to the eye, very fine airbubbles, and bacterial infections. Poor water quality and physical damage are the most common causes. Once the eye is damaged the bacteria get in and cause imflammation. Make sure the water quality is good, no ammonia or nitrite and the temperature is above 22C.
If it is damage the eye should clear up and the swelling go down in a day or two. If it is bacterial it will get worse and need treating. Some bacterial eye infections can spread but most just affect the individual fish.

Aye, I saw him at my Not so LFS and decided to bring him home and try to treat him.

My main concern is if I can take half of the meds per pack to use in the 5gal instead of 10...

You should be fine.

This is not a med i have experience with, but my hospital tank is small (about 5g too) and I just use half the dosage for a 10gal tank whenever i've used any meds in it.
