Poorly King Betta

I went to my LFS and for sidetracked to look at the bettas. Then I saw a king betta in one of those little cups! He was bigger than the cup. His tail was wrapped around the side of the cup and his whole body looked stuckish. His body was wrapped 2/3 around the cup. I really wanted to save him from his misery but $20 for a betta fish! They also had a nice empty tank right next to where they're cups were.
