I put a glass catfish into our 70L on Thursday (to keep an existing one company).

Went away for the weekend. Got back yesterday (Sun) and he seemed fine.

Checking today and his spine is bent and he looks very thin.

I have put him in a breeder net and tried to feed him, but he doesn't seem interested. Tried bloodworm, dried food and sinking pellet things.

Checked water stats - ammonia 0, nitrIte 0, nitrate 30.

Done a 30L water change.

He just seems to be lying on the bottom of the breeder net and swimming occasionally.

What is best for me (and the fish) to do?

Martin

Yes i would he putting them more in danger, i would end his suffering to be honest, get a jug of coldwater and add some ice place the fish in but leave him for a while just to make sure he's passed on.

Very sad to do i know but it is a quick death as long as the water is really cold.

ok. done :(

As for the other fish (9 guppy, 5 molly, 5 tetra and 1 glass catfish), is there anything that can be done or would they now be infected (fish added 5 days ago)?

is it just a case of 'wait and see'?

also, how do I sterilise equipment?

Sadly I would read that link the seond one and i will get you another one.
No meds in the uk for fish tb, only a vet who would proscribe mincycline or tetracycline, but he would have to come to the house.

Sterlise equipment with hot boiling salty water.
