Hi there I was hoping to get some advice.

I have a blackmoor who is suffering from what I thought was fungus... I have tried to treat this with salt which didnt work so I then tried a med called esha2000 which is meant to clear fungus this didnt work either (Ive tried two doses) so Im begining to wonder if its not fungus on the fish... tbh it dosen't look very fluffy like cotton wool it looks more kinda slimey and see through although the main colour is white.

She is in a 40G tank with two other fish - water readings are Amm - 0 Nitrite - 0 Nitrate -30 ish

Does anyone know what it might be... she is also hanging around the top of the tank a lot this happened once b4 and i treated for swimbladder which worked for a time but now it looks as if it may be happening again... the 'slime' is mainly on her dorsal fin so I wondered if maybe it was caused because when she floating around the top this part of her is exposed to the air?

Sould I treat for swimbladder and hope the slime clears when she is under the water 24/7 or do u think the 'slime' is unrelated and if so can anyone reccomend a treatment... im in the UK - Thanks.

Being black, the slime coat shows a lot more than your typical fish. You may have to look closely to see if the other fish have it.
Does it look like a cloud or is it quite thick and white?
Slime disease is a parasite usually caused by chilodonella or it could be columnaris.
Can you get a pic?

It may be a reaction to something else totally and its causing the slime coat to thicken, but with the fish acting differently then something is wrong. Have a look inside the gills and see if they are still a healthy meaty red colour. Also see if the slime is covering the gills.

I take it the other fish are acting fine?

What is the temperature in the tank and how often and how mucha re you doing water changes?

have you added anything new in the past few weeks?

Hi thanks for the reply...

It doesnt look like a cloud, i tried to think of the best way to describe it and all I could come up with is paper glue, like someones rubbed her with pritt stick or the like :/
Doubled checked the other fish and theres no sign on them at all.. the blackmoor does have small patchs on her elsewhere though I noticed small areas on the body, tail and one lower fin but these are small the main bulk of the white stuff is on the/around the base of the dorsal fin - gills look fine, nice and red but there is no sign of the 'slime' there. The other fish are acting normal.
Im not sure of the temp of the tank tbh - the room is 24oC and the tank is unheated as for water changes I change 20/25% fortnighly there is two filters on the tank, a built in internal and also a external (fluval) and I haven't added anything new for months now.

Ive put the batteries for my camera on charge, as soon as I can ill try to get a pic so you can have a look.

Appreciate the reply... Thanks again

Amber.

Know what you mean and seen some signs of it before it usually bacterial.

How long did you use the esha 2000 as it can take two rounds to start to see improvement.

Damn - the photos I took were rubbish you can't realy see it, I have a short vid but can't seem to post it so u can all watch it :X

Wilder - I used the dose stated on the esha (three day course) and done this twice but it seemed to have no effect at all.... do u think I should try again?

Without pics do any of you have any more ideas on what I can try - Thanks in advance.

Cant get in as it needs a password. I think you need to make your pics viewable to all but not sure

No don't bother using the med again if you added it twice and it did nothing.
Well its bacterial to parasite.
You could try myxazin and pimafix both together.
