Hi all
Hope someone can help.
I bought a beautiful fighter with lovely finnage about a week ago and he seems happy enough, eating and exploring all the tank, I noticed today when I came home that his fins look glued together and he seems to have what I can only describe as a snail trail across different parts of his fins.
The tank = 300L fully cycled, planted mangrove root with Christmas moss and Anubias nana, marimo moss balls.
No ammonia, nitrites or nitrates and 6.4ph (API master kit).

I always do a head count when I come home from work, at first I couldn't see him, then I found him in one of the Anubias, when he came out that's when I noticed he didn't look right, he does seem to want to keep hiding.
Hope you can shed some light on what's going on.
Thanks in advance.

My fighter spent its life hiding, clearly it wasnt happy. As gor the snail trail thing. Sounds like slime diseaseor some sort of fungus. Hope this helps

What are the tank mates? And is there a lot of flow in the tank? Longer finned males tend to struggle in current due to the length of their fins, and they don't seem to do as well as females in larger tanks- they do much better in small territories. Tank mates can also have a big impact on them, especially if they are kept with active, nippy or aggressive species. If you have the space, he'd probably be happier off in his own 5 gal with some shrimp for company?

Sorry for the delay in update, he's now been moved into a 20l tank running a air driven sponge filter, he's been having salt baths and has responded well. Need to find some shrimp now as a clean up crew.
